Galinsoga parviflora of family Asteraceae, is an annual herb which is commonly known as Gallant soldier. Traditionally, fresh leaves and juice of the plant have been used as medicine globally to treat dermatological disorders including eczema, lichen, non-healing and bleeding wounds. It was also administered orally to cure common cold, flu and cold sores. It can be taken when there is deficiency of vitamin C due to the high level of vitamin C in the plant. The aqueous extracts of aerial parts of plant have protective effects against damages due to UV radiation. As the plant is used as food for making salad and soups in Latin and North America, it shows that the plant is non-toxic. Studies indicates the plant has wide range of pharmacological activities including antioxidant, hepatoprotective, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, cytotoxic, nematicidal and antidiabetic activities, etc and these pharmacological activities are due to presence of various phytochemicals like flavonoids, steroids, phenolic acid and caffeic acid derivatives, essential oil constituents, etc. The present review summarizes the research work carried out on this plant in order to provide updated information for future works....
Respiratory diseases are medical illnesses that affect the organs and tissues that make up the respiratory system, making it difficult for organisms to exchange gases. Various causes, ranging from infection to air pollution, may cause these illnesses. As the globe evolves due to numerous innovations in the industrial area, air pollutants have grown, resulting in an increase in the number of diseases transmitted via the air. Although there are drugs available on the market to treat these ailments, there are also numerous plants that naturally contain components that may be utilized to cure them. The goal of this study is to learn about the numerous plants used to treat respiratory problems across the world. To support this study, a thorough literature search was conducted using many databases. All of the data was evaluated and the plants were categorized according to the types of respiratory illnesses for which they are employed. According to the findings of the study, there are several medicinal and traditional plants that may be utilized to treat practically all respiratory system problems. As a result, there may be alternatives to the often expensive synthetic drugs on the market. We may use traditional herbal medicine to substitute synthetic medications, which will also assist to reduce the negative effects that are often experienced after using commercial pharmaceuticals....
